LORETTO, Ky., Aug. 19, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- Maker's Mark®, the iconic Kentucky bourbon driven by the pursuit of better flavor and a better world, today announced the 2025 release of Maker's Mark Cellar Aged: the global, limited-release expression that delivers the most mature whisky ever blended by the distillery. Now in its third year, Maker's Mark Cellar Aged is aged to taste, not time – blending 11-, 13- and 14-year-old Maker's Mark to unlock new depths of flavor.

"From the beginning, Maker's Mark has gone to extraordinary lengths to craft an uncompromisingly delicious bourbon, and Cellar Aged 2025 is a continuation of that pursuit," said Rob Samuels, managing director and eighth-generation whisky maker. "An elevated expression that remains unmistakably Maker's Mark, Cellar Aged finishes maturing in our LEED-certified limestone cellar, creating a richer, deeper and more complex bourbon."

Meticulously crafted, Maker's Mark Cellar Aged 2025 blends 74% 11-year-old, 10% 13-year-old and 16% 14-year-old bourbon for a bold 56.45% ABV (112.9 proof). The result is bright and balanced with vibrant character and a long, smooth finish. The aroma offers rich notes of dark brown sugar, caramelized oak and baked apple. On the palate, creamy fudge, toasted almond and ripe dark cherry interplay with lingering hints of butterscotch, orange zest and soft baking spices.

"Our cellar, built into the natural limestone shelf that surrounds our Star Hill Farm distillery, plays a vital role in shaping the whisky's final profile — just as our environment has done since our founding," said Dr. Blake Layfield, Master Distiller, Maker's Mark. "Aging at consistently cool temperatures slows the extraction of wood tannins, allowing oxidation to do its work and developing a bourbon that's more complex, yet remarkably approachable. By avoiding the overly bitter, tannic notes that can come with traditional long aging, this one-of-a-kind expression challenges everything you think you know about aged bourbon."

Maker's Mark Cellar Aged 2025 will be available for a suggested retail price of USD $175 in the United States, Germany and select Global Travel Retail accounts beginning mid-September. Availability will follow in the United Kingdom, Australia, Korea, Japan, and Singapore later this year and into early 2026.

In the United States, in addition to select retailers nationwide, Maker's Mark Cellar Aged 2025 will be available for purchase at the Maker's Mark Distillery beginning September 5th  — kicking off Bourbon Heritage Month — by booking the Cellar Aged Experience at

TRENDS INFLUENCING THE GROWTH OF THE CRAFT SPIRITS MARKET:

Gin is one of the most dynamic categories in the craft spirits market because of its versatility and the creative freedom it offers distillers. Unlike aged spirits, gin allows rapid innovation through unique botanical infusions, enabling producers to respond quickly to shifting consumer tastes. Its growing popularity in cocktail culture has positioned it as a fashionable spirit that attracts both new and experienced drinkers. The demand for fresh flavor experiences makes craft gin highly appealing, particularly when brands highlight artisanal production and authenticity. Limited releases, exotic ingredients, and storytelling linked to origin help build premium perception. This ability to constantly innovate and engage consumers has made gin a strong driver of growth across the global craft spirits landscape.

Whiskey plays a leading role in strengthening the craft spirits market by offering consumers depth, tradition, and exclusivity. It appeals strongly to enthusiasts who value heritage and are willing to pay premium prices for small-batch or limited-edition releases. Craft distillers emphasize unique mash bills, special cask finishes, and distinctive maturation processes, which create individuality and elevate brand identity. Whiskey also benefits from its association with authenticity and collectible appeal, encouraging consumers to trade up from standard offerings. Craft producers leverage storytelling around craftsmanship, heritage, and innovation to differentiate themselves from larger players. This combination of exclusivity, premiumization, and cultural prestige ensures whiskey continues to dominate revenues and sustain strong long-term growth within the broader craft spirits market.

Bottle stores and online platforms are crucial in expanding access and strengthening consumer engagement with craft spirits. Off-trade retail stores provide visibility, giving smaller brands a chance to compete alongside mainstream labels. Consumers seeking premium spirits for home enjoyment increasingly rely on specialized liquor shops that highlight artisanal selections. Online platforms have transformed the market by breaking geographical barriers, enabling direct-to-consumer sales and personalized experiences. Digital marketing, subscription models, and curated e-commerce platforms allow brands to showcase their uniqueness and build loyalty. Together, bottle stores and online channels foster discovery, improve availability, and create lasting consumer connections. Their combined role in broadening reach and promoting convenience continues to shape the growth trajectory of craft spirits significantly.

A powerful factor driving craft spirits growth is the ongoing global shift toward premiumization. Consumers no longer prioritize quantity but seek quality, authenticity, and individuality in their purchases. Craft spirits align perfectly with this mindset, offering limited production runs, artisanal methods, and distinctive flavor profiles that justify higher prices. Premium positioning also ties into lifestyle trends where drinking becomes part of personal identity and experience rather than routine consumption. Attractive packaging, exclusive releases, and strong brand storytelling further reinforce the perception of luxury. The association of premium craft spirits with celebration, gifting, and social occasions also strengthens demand. As consumers consistently trade up, premiumization remains one of the most influential drivers behind the market's continued expansion worldwide.

The resurgence of cocktail culture has elevated craft spirits into the mainstream by emphasizing creativity, flavor diversity, and innovation. Bartenders and mixologists increasingly experiment with small-batch spirits to craft unique beverages that deliver memorable experiences. This has fueled demand for artisanal gins, whiskeys, and liqueurs that offer distinctive profiles compared to mass-market alternatives. Craft spirits are also becoming a symbol of sophistication in cocktail menus, encouraging consumers to explore new categories and flavors. The desire for customized, experiential drinking occasions means craft brands gain a competitive edge when integrated into mixology trends. As cocktails become expressions of identity and artistry, the reliance on premium craft spirits ensures this cultural movement continues to stimulate significant growth across the industry.

Innovation in flavors has become a cornerstone of craft spirits growth, with distillers experimenting beyond traditional recipes to capture evolving consumer interests. From exotic botanicals to unusual cask finishes, the variety of new expressions enhances consumer engagement and supports repeat purchases. This innovation culture allows smaller producers to stand out in a competitive market, positioning their products as both adventurous and premium. Consumers increasingly look for spirits that surprise and excite, whether through seasonal releases or experimental blends. By offering novelty and variety, craft spirits create ongoing curiosity among drinkers, strengthening loyalty. Continuous flavor innovation ensures brands remain relevant and attractive, reinforcing the perception of craft spirits as leaders in creativity, uniqueness, and evolving taste experiences.

Pricing strategies are a significant factor in sustaining growth, as craft spirits balance premium positioning with perceived value. While generally more expensive than mass-market options, careful pricing ensures accessibility to consumers seeking luxury experiences without excessive barriers. Limited editions, exclusive packaging, and storytelling justify higher price points and reinforce exclusivity. At the same time, entry-level craft options introduce new consumers to the category, creating a pathway toward premium tiers. Brands strategically diversify their portfolios to cater to different spending capacities, capturing a wider audience. This tiered approach enhances revenue potential while maintaining authenticity. By effectively communicating the value of craftsmanship and quality, pricing strategies support consumer trust and drive long-term growth within the craft spirits market.

BARDSTOWN, Ky. (Aug 11, 2025) – is delighting fans with a fourth VVS release within the Old Fitzgerald Bottled-in-Bond Decanter Series: Old Fitzgerald Bottled-in-Bond 11-Year-Old VVS 2025 Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey.

The 100-proof, 11-year-old wheated bourbon is deep amber in the bottle, offering a nose of toasted bread and stewed apples, soft with a rich honey sweetness and hints of baking spices on the palate.

The release marks the storied brand’s fourth VVS release in its history and follows the highly acclaimed VVS 2024 release, which was named “Best Bourbon in the World” at the World Whiskies Awards earlier this year.

Like its predecessor, the barrels for the latest VVS bottling were specially selected from the depths of Heaven Hill’s rickhouses by Master Distiller Conor O’Driscoll. While born of the same mashbill that helped make Old Fitzgerald famous – 68% corn, 20% wheat, 12% malted barley – O’Driscoll identifies casks with a certain profile to be considered exclusively for VVS releases.

“We always let our whiskey tell us when it’s ready, and our latest VVS release offered just the right amount of complexity and depth of flavor when we tasted it at 11 years old,” said O’Driscoll. “Not a day more of aging was needed for this Bourbon to fulfill the expectations that discerning Old Fitz fans have for a VVS Bourbon that carries its name. This one’s worth saving and savoring for special occasions.”

Old Fitzgerald Bottled-in-Bond 11-Year-Old VVS 2025 comes on the heels of the brand’s first nationwide release and signature expression: Old Fitzgerald Bottled-in-Bond 7-Year-Old Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey. While the new signature expression gives Whiskey drinkers a more accessible way to enjoy Old Fitz on more occasions, the newest release stays true to VVS tradition in being offered in highly limited quantities, identifiable by its maroon label.

As with all Old Fitzgerald Bottled-in-Bond Bourbons, each VVS label proudly displays its distilling and bottling season and adheres to the strict Bottled-in-Bond requirements that ensure quality, transparency and craftsmanship.

Now available exclusively at the Heaven Hill Bourbon Experience in Bardstown, Ky and select Kentucky retailers for $169.99 per 750ml bottle.

TAIPEI, Aug. 7, 2025 /CNW/ -- In the final round of the 2025 Tokyo Whisky and Spirits Competition (TWSC), Taiwan's premier whisky distillery achieved the impossible, scooping not just one "Best of the Best Single Malt", but two of the same award.

Organisers said: "Due to a tie, this category has two winners. This marks the first time in TWSC history that the 'Best of the Best' title has been awarded to two whiskies."

Kavalan Solist PX Sherry Cask and new expression, Kavalan Lán, were jointly named "Best of the Best Single Malt" after a rigorous double selection procedure.

Judges found PX Sherry to have a "silky and profound finish with umami depth", while Lán was described as "caramelised nuts, honey, and temple incense" creating a "deep and intriguing aroma".

King Car Group Chairman Mr. YT Lee said Japan was one of the world's most refined whisky markets.

"Japan is where connoisseurs appreciate complexity, depth, and character. To win the first ever tied 'Best of the Best' in Tokyo is an extraordinary honour. We are thrilled to have our craftsmanship recognised on such a grand stage."

Product Descriptions

LÁN Single Malt Whisky (700ml, 43% ABV)

The name LÁN carries deep meaning. It stands for "Kavalan", pays homage to our home "Yilan" and represents the orchid "lán" in Mandarin, symbolizing Taiwan's reputation as the "Kingdom of Orchids."

This is the first Kavalan whisky named after our home region, with packaging featuring expressive calligraphy and delicate orchid motifs, reflecting a distinctly Asian aesthetic.

On the nose: orchid, rose, jasmine, peony, orange blossom, butter, vanilla, chocolate, and sandalwood.

On the palate: floral-fruity freshness, butter, cocoa, and spiced oak, finishing like a fine eau de parfum.

Kavalan Solist PX Single Cask Strength (700ml, 50–59.9% ABV)

PX (Pedro Ximénez), the sweet dessert sherry, is often referred to as the "King of Sherries,". Kavalan Solist PX is a rich, warming whisky, brimming with juicy raisins and honeyed syrup. In blind tastings, its surprising maturity has judges mistaking it for a 20 or 30-year-old dram.

This is the second time Solist PX has been awarded "Best of the Best," following its 2023 win.

On the nose: rich raisins, fig jam, toffee sweetness, and a touch of dark chocolate.

On the palate: silky and full-bodied, with honeyed dates, cocoa, nutmeg spice, and a lingering sherry warmth.

The Solist series takes its name from the idea of a soloist performing in Kavalan's warehouse. Each cask is bottled at single cask strength without colouring or chill-filtration.

Kavalan also set a new record of 7 superior gold and 11 gold medals in the contest this year.

Judges' notes for select Superior Gold medal whiskies:

  • Refined like a Western dessert, with elegant sweetness and a long finish featuring oak and mint
  • Aromas of caramel, muscat grape, and peach are beautifully integrated
  • Full-bodied and expressive, suitable neat or over ice

Kavalan Triple Sherry Cask

  • Lush and complex like a sweet wine, with delightful transitions across the palate
  • Prominent sherry character, balanced with dried fruits and oak spice
  • Citrus notes rise smoothly, soft on the tongue, recommended to enjoy neat

  • Buttery and umami-rich, with a pleasing mix of sweet-savoury notes
